ALL-STAR TO SURPRISE VOICES FOR CHILDREN FOUNDATION WITH SHOPPING
SPREE
What/Who:
HEAT
guard Gary Payton along with teammate Antoine Walker will give 200
children the chance to do some holiday shopping at Target on Sunday,
Dec. 17, 2006. The children, all selected from the Southern Florida
region by the Voices For Children Foundation will gather at AmericanAirlines
Arena and take buses to meet Payton and Walker at Target where they
will each receive a $100 gift card to purchase items of their choice.
Since 2002, The Gary Payton Foundation
has been surprising children with a shopping spree during the
holidays. The Miami HEAT dancers, team mascot Burnie and the Xtreme
Team will be on hand to assist the children with their shopping.
Each child will also receive a t-shirt and photo with Payton.
“This
is my second year hosting a shopping spree for local children
in the Miami community,” said Payton. “My family and
I have been very blessed and we love to share with others whenever
possible, especially this time of year.”

The Gary Payton Foundation benefits underprivileged youth. It provides
opportunities in the areas of education, recreation and overall
wellness to at-risk youths who are deprived of basic options in
life.
VOICES FOR CHILDREN FOUNDATION MISSION
STATEMENT
The mission of Voices for Children Foundation is to raise funds
to ensure that every abused and neglected child in Miami-Dade
County has a court-appointed Guardian Ad Litem volunteer and that
financial assistance and other resources are available for their
accompanying health, educational and social needs.
