SuperFan.com, the quickly growing, fan-driven online community and social game, welcomes its newest advisory board member: top NBA player Dwight "Superman" Howard.
Howard joins Internet leaders Shawn Fanning (founder of Napster and Rupture), Philip Kaplan (founder of F'd Company and AdBrite), James Currier (founder of WonderHill and Tickle) and Blake Commagere (creator of the Vampires, Zombies and Causes apps on Facebook), as an active SuperFan.com member and advisor to site founder Rick Marini, adding weight (and height) to SuperFan.com's "by Fans, for Fans" ethos.
Howard, the Orlando Magic's center, is a three-time NBA All-Star and the 2009 Defensive Player of the Year; he was the winner of the 2008 NBA Slam Dunk Contest and the starting center for the 2008 Olympics' gold-medal Team USA. He is also a community leader and philanthropist, and is himself a fan of many things, including gospel music, professional wrestling, his hometown church and favorite singer Alicia Keys.
Howard discovered SuperFan.com when a friend told him his profile, or Page, was one of the new site's most popular. He quickly became enthusiastic about the site's features. His Fans can post photos/videos of Dwight, interact with him, follow his Twitter stream, and for the first time ever, can see all the things he loves outside of basketball. They can also play a social game as innovative as his multifaceted on-court game by using Credits gained through site activities to become his SuperFan and control aspects of his Page.
"I have nearly 1 million followers on Twitter," Howard says, "and 400,000 fans on Facebook, but my favorite site is SuperFan.com."
