PROFESSIONAL: The first overall draft pick in 1997 by the Houston Comets, Tina became the first draftee in the history of the WNBA. She helped lead the Comets to four WNBA championship titles in 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000. A member of the WNBA All-Decade team, Tina has been named to the All-WNBA team eight times. She is a nine-time WNBA All-Star and took home the MVP trophy during the 2000 all-star game. In 2009, Tina joined the Los Angeles Sparks and averaged 15.2 ppg, 7 rpg and 2.8 apg. She became the WNBA’s all-time leading scorer in history on August 8, 2010, scoring her 6,264th career point and finished the 2010 WNBA season with 6,413 career points to date. At the 2011 NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles, Tina participated in the Shooting Stars competition along with former Lakers player Rick Fox and current Lakers all-star Pau Gasol.

NATIONAL/INTERNATIONAL: Tina has won two Olympic Gold Medals as a member of Team USA in 2004 (Athens, Greece) and 2008 (Beijing, China). She has also participated in other professional leagues overseas. Following the 2001 WNBA season, Tina played for Rovereto Basket in Italy and in 2003 she joined the Kumho Falcons of the Women’s Korea Basketball League (WKBL). In 2006 and 2007, she played for Spartak Moscow Region (Euro league) and in 2010 for the MCM TârgoviÅŸte in Romania.

COLLEGE: Tina spent four years at the University of Southern California (1993-1997) where she helped USC compile a 77-37 record, leading the team to three NCAA Tournaments (1994, 1995, 1997) including an Elite Eight appearance in 1994. A three-time All-Pac 10 selection at USC, Tina was a second-team All-American as a senior in 1997. She finished fifth on the university’s career lists in scoring (2,248 points) and (1,168 rebounds). In 1994, Tina was named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year as well as Freshman All-America by Basketball Times.

PERSONAL: Tina Marie Thompson was born on February 10, 1975 in Los Angeles, CA. She is one of five children, has two brothers and two sisters. Tina’s older brother Tommy got her started in basketball when she was nine years old. With a degree from USC in Sociology and a minor in Psychology, one of Tina’s proudest achievements is graduating from college. She has one son named Dyllan. Tina is an original member of the Jr. NBA/WNBA Advisory Council serving as an ambassador for the WNBA by conducting “Basketball and Books” clinics. Tina is the co-owner and serves as the creativity director of Blueprint Collective, LLC, a marketing & branding agency. Blueprint Collective most recently hosted several events during the 2011 NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles, CA, including: DeMar DeRozan assembly & pep rally at Compton High School, DeMar DeRozan’s “Go Green” metro ride, 3-on-3 Legends Tournament at USC and the Nike gifting suite at The W Hotel Residences.
